Esther Agbarakwe, one of the 2010 Women Deliver Young Leaders and a speaker at the 2013 Women Deliver global conference has been nominated for the Vlisco Women’s Month Award for her outstanding work as an exceptional climate change policy expert and advocate for the rights of women and girls in Nigeria.The Vlisco Women’s Month Awards celebrate inspiring women in West and Central Africa annually during the month of March.This year’s theme is Dare to Dream: A tribute to women who have faith and courage to realize their dreams.
Esther has been nominated among 3 women in the Nigeria category and winners will be announced at the end of March and beginning of April on the Vlisco website, and during the Vlisco Women’s Month Award Night.The Nigerian-born has been recognized for her phenomenal efforts and contribution to women’s, girls’ and youth movements. She has over eight years of experience in management and facilitation of youth led-projects, representing Nigeria and Africa at over ten high-level global governance meetings on sustainable development and has served as the African coordinator of the UN Commission on Sustainable Development (UNCSD) Youth and Children Major Group.
Esther has been a part of several youth-led activities at national and international levels, and is the current Communication and Documentation Officer of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria at the Association for Reproductive & Family Health
