Women Deliver Announces Cinema Corner Finalists for Women Deliver 2013

On International Women’s Day, Women Deliver is pleased to announce the filmmakers who are invited to screen their work at Cinema Corner, a special feature of the Women Deliver 2013 global conference. These films will tell the stories behind Women Deliver’s mission of reducing maternal mortality and improving access to reproductive health, and they will help conference participants connect to these key issues. This year, nearly 200 inspiring and informative films were submitted for consideration.

Building on the success of the inaugural Cinema Corner that took place at the 2010 Women Deliver conference in DC, the 2013 Cinema Corner will include three days of screenings running concurrent to the conference. Cinema Corner engages filmmakers, media outlets, and audiences in film-related advocacy opportunities. The arts is an important element of Women Deliver’s approach to making a more equitable world for girls and women.

The filmmakers have an exciting opportunity to share their work on a global platform, and to distribute their films to participants.

Women Deliver is privileged to have the Cinema Corner curated by Emmy Award-winning documentary filmmaker, Lisa Russell, MPH who curated the 2010 Women Deliver Cinema Corner. She has produced films on issues such as maternal health, youth in conflict zones, the HIV/AIDS pandemic, and is the co-founder of MDGFive.com.
