A week from today, our global population will reach 7 billion. In order to highlight the magnitude of this occasion, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), continues to promote dialogue through their 7 Billion Actions Campaign. The campaign, a worldwide advocacy effort which began July 11th and ends October 31st, aims to encourage discourse on what it means to live in a world with so many people, and to encourage action on issues that affect us all.
Recently, the campaign featured Women Deliver’s Founder and Director, Jill Sheffield, and Sejal Hathi, one of the “Women Deliver 100,” a list of the hundred most inspiring people who have delivered for girls and women. Both leaders in their own right, Jill discussed how she came to be an advocate, and the importance of addressing both the economic and social argument for investing and women and girls. Sejal, only 19 years of age, focused on her desire to “ignite a global transformation in the way the world harnesses young women’s potential as leaders, as innovators, as change makers.”
