CARE Conference 2011 and International Women’s Day Celebration

March 8th will mark the 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day, a day when thousands of events are held throughout the world to inspire women and celebrate achievements. To commemorate, CARE USA will host the CARE Conference and International Women’s Day Celebration March 8 – 10, 2011 in Washington, DC.

The CARE Conference will feature keynote speakers Melinda Gates, Mrs. Laura W. Bush, Judy Woodruff and panel discussions led by issue experts from around the world. On March 10, attendees will meet with their member of Congress on Capitol Hill to ask for their support on key policies -- including robust foreign aid -- that will help empower women and girls to lift themselves and their communities out of poverty. Join us as we recognize the work of women worldwide who have made a difference during the past century, and speak out on behalf of women and girls who need advocates like you. Please participate in this unique opportunity to learn, network and act!

As a leading organization that fights global poverty by empowering women and girls, CARE has made reducing maternal mortality one of its top priorities. With more than 50 years of experience and success developing and implementing maternal and child health programs, CARE works directly with women and communities, empowering them with resources and information while affecting policies to ensure that safe pregnancy and birth are a basic human right.
